The price leader in the direct drive ski boat market is: Moomba.

You get what you pay for. Try and find an older model that still might be in great shape.
Moombas are like GM cars...look great...run fast...fall apart after a little use. Your call.

Kind of have to agree here with Nkmay on the moomba's..

I too would not rule out an older Correct Craft.. They are some of the absolute finest boats ever produced quality wise, bar-none... Of course, there are always exceptions...

I had a 1979 Nautique that had been seriously abused and neglected (X-ski school boat) for many years before I got hold of it... I spent $3000 for boat and trailer with running engine, cleaned it up and about $1500 worth of cosmetic work being mostly upholstry, carpet, new side graphics, and a re-wire job, it was good as new...

I used the boat for about three to four years after the repairs and sold it for about $500 more than I had into it... ;) I could have sold it for more, but injurys from sking caused me to let it go... It was painful to have it just sitting there in the driveway not being used and it was even more painful to watch it go down the road behind someone else's truck when I sold it :(
