Should I be using corrosion x or the heavy duty version on my outboard & other parts? I see they say the difference is that the heavy duty leaves a greasy film...does the regular version leave a sticky film also?

Is another brand more recommended?

I use both, but I have straight and V-drive inboards.

The heavy duty stuff is good for parts exposed to the elements, since it will stay in place for a long time. I use the heavy duty on my trailer, etc. for inside the cowl, the regular stuff works fine. Totally safe for electronics, in fact, the first time I ever saw the stuff was at a marine store where they had several electronic devices that had been sprayed with it, running in a salt water aquarium.

Other choices are Fluid Film, and CRC 656, but I like the Corrosion X better......it's what the USAF uses to protect their aircraft.

I ordered some corrosion x & got it. Sprayed it all over the outboard engine & any metal part I could find. Saw it disperse water like nothing else I've ever seen. Let's see how it works
