Re: Cost...

...and, hey, Bondo - cut it out with the disparaging references to OMC-powered Bayliners. I have an '87 24' Cuddy with a 5.0 OMC Cobra in it - it's our Lake Powell boat, and the only trouble I've ever had is a catastrophic upper gear failure after my friend drained the lube and forgot to replenish before he took it out. Wait - that sort of supports your bilgeliner thing.....but that was operator-maintenance error, dang it! :p

Don and I happen to believe in properly maintained Bayliners powered by OMC. It's hard to love something that's too easy, isn't it? ;)

Have I missed something?....or has a potential iboater been driven off for lack of knowledge..(or manners)? I really did not see alot of help in most of the posts above...A good welcome from our members should be first...Then a post your make, model, etc.....Then, tear him to pieces.... IF you will! Unles I missed something....That was not a good welcome or very informative either....Except Tommays & maybe Shamus....JK

Re: Cost...

Well said JK. Everyone here has different levels of experience. Having been lurking around here for several months, I see alot of posts from the "Gang" so to speak. We hang out here to learn new things & to share info and give advice when we can. Some of it is trial and error as I have learned. I took a few _ss Whoopin's when I first arrived for some (probably) poorly worded questions. On the flip side, I have also received some top notch advice and problem solving answers.

Re: Cost...

I'm new here and have probably posted some stupid questions, but I post them anyway. If you are going to join an internet forum, you have to be thick skinned to begin with. I expect harsh responses, they don't bother me.

I own a 1973 OMC!!! Beat that! It isn't the best, but it's mine. I get a lot of "negative" responses to questions, but who cares? If I am persistant and listen to suggestions, I usually get the answers that I need. The more you post and the more you read, you learn who to listen to and who NOT to listen to.

No big deal. If I were HollaGeo, I would get the information people suggested he get and post it. He might be suprised at the help he receieves!!! I'm sure he'll get ripped some more by someone, but who cares? I doubt he's planning on having anyone over for dinner anyway!!! :D
