On an '82 6 cyl. inline? no spark on 2,4, or 6 and the stator test is not coming out right on the blue and red striped wires.

Swap the red and blue (and striped) wires between the switchboxes and retest. If the bad readings follow the wires, it's the stator. If the readings stay with the switchbox, it's the switchbox.

hope it helps

well, we bought the tool and removed the flywheel. The stator was not bolted down. It was just sitting in there.

Some damage to it and one wire. We are replacing it now. Hopefully this fixes a few other problems too.

When I put a stator on a V6, I drill and thread as many mounting holes as I can, adding at least 2 bolts to the original 4. Then I use blue locktite on the screws.

I have found that a 3/16" brad point drill bit will slip down through the stator and precicely mark the center for the needed holes.

hope it helps
