Mine is an 18' open bow with a 4.3L Mercruiser V-6 and an Alpha I outdrive. I've had mine since since 1991 and have been extremely happy happy with it.
I did have some soft spots in the floor but some marine plywood and new carpet made it good as new.
Regular maintence is the key to a good running boat. You take care of the minor things ( preventitive maintence ) and most likely, bad things won't happen.
