Could using ngk plugs induce a high speed miss?

I changed the plugs from ql77jc4 champions to ngk and I now have a miss in the motor e225cxcce. Could a simple plug change cause this? I am going to check the spark this afternoon at a 7/16 gap. Boy I hope the spark is good. Maybe I just got a bad plug.

Nope, you don't have a bad plug. You have 4 of them. Switch back to the Champions you were running

Walker<br />10-4 I will switch back to the champions. I just completed a spark test and I have no spark on the starboard bank (1,3,5 I think) Do I have a bad power pack? The other side (port) has nice blue spark with a snap on all 3. I ohmed all coils and I got 265 ohms +or- 3ohms on all 6

Okay, disconnect the shift switch wire from the engine wiring. I believe its a Black/yellow. Try cranking motor.<br />If you have fire to 1, 3, 1nd 5 now then your switch is bad or out of adjustment.

Great line Walker! I'd totally agree with you except I think he needs to change all 6. Lol!!<br /><br />What's even funnier is that I just bought a boat with a 1990 225 E-rude and it had 4 KGB's....er...NGK's and 2 QL77JC4's. <br /><br />Whats up with changing 4 plugs in a V6???

Oops, didn't read close enough. I have a bad habit of doing that. And I didn't even catch it when I posted about the shift switch.

Thanks guys<br />The shift switch on my motor has 3 wires and 2 go into the power pack the other is a ground (I think) do I need to unhook all 3 reassemble then test for spark? And how would I adjust this? It has 2 plastic guide posts to hold it in position. I dont see any adjustment.

Take the two from the pack and unhook them. Then test again for spark. If you start the motor just be aware that when you shut it off only the port side will quit. Youll most likely have to flood it to shut down the starboard side. Unless you hook the two wires from the pack together. But if youre just testing for spark you dont have to do that.

I disconnected the switch tonight and there is still no spark on 1,3,5. I have the manual so I guess my next move is to check the charging coil then the timer base and so on correct? Or is there a more likley part I should jump to versus starting at the charge loop and following the book. Thank you guys for the help thus far.

If that didnt do it then I'd start at square 1 in the book. I really was hoping that was it.
