i had my motor stored in the up position with the transom saver attached. This idiot left a power swith on last week and ran the battery dead. the door to the fuel/battery compartment will not open when the motor is all the way up. i looked and looked for a manual override and had no luck so i removed to motoer cover, that didnt help, i removed the carb cover and that still didnt give me enough room. finally after removing the top right carb, i was able to lift the door far enough to get the charger hooked up.
is there a better way to do this or a manual release to drop the motor?

What is the motor you have ? ? There should be a manual valve on the tilt.

If you could get to the starter solenoid, you could charge the battery there(long enough to tilt down).

Uh yes, watch out for "this idiots".Lots of us out here.

DHP

If youd' look on the starboard transom bracket in one of them holes, you'll see a smaller slotted screw head. This is the manual release screw. Back it out a couple turns and you can raise the motor enough by hand to remove the totter and then let the engine down.
