counter rotating swap for reg.rotation omc stringer

i just purchased a great running inline 6 250 mercruiser without knowing that it was counter rotating and now i have to keep it. can i swap this out with my blown standard rotation? i understand how to make it standard rotation, change cam,starter.timing gears,dist. gear etc. but can i just use as is with my outdrive and just change to CR prop ? what would i have to do to use as is? is is possible?

I didn't know Merc ever used a counter rotation 250 inline 6. Are you sure, remember a right hand in the front is a left hand in the back

the tag with the specs on the valve cover says ROTATION-CCR
i am assuming this means counter clockwise rotation. this motor came out of a bertram with twin motors and outdrives so i am assuming this is the counter rotation motor...i did not know this until i had gotten the motor home

CCR is the standard left hand rotation of an IL 6 Chevy engine. I've never heard of a right hand rotation L6 rather OMC or Merc.
This is from a Mercruiser service manual and has always been their method of looking at rotation of an engine.

It would be very easy to check, just crank the engine with the starter and see which way it turns.

People forget to look at the Working end of a motor to figure out What they have...............

I've never studied the Facts,....
But I'll venture to say, That Most of the Engines in our lives are in fact CCW..........
