Hello;

I am replacing my single 135hp merc and have an opportunity to purchase a great 1995 200hp merc that is counter rotating. I am wondering about the pro/cons of running a counter rotating motor as a single engine? I know props are not as easy to come by but what about the day to day operation?

Will the boat list towards the starboard (driver) more?
Do I have to make any changes to my controls?
How about reversing the boat...any different docking etc?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Run it as a conventional rotation. Counterrotationals can be run as conventional rotation, but conventional rotationals can't be run as counterrotation.

You can run a it but you might get a little list to the driver side.Torque steer in reverse will be oposite but hardly noticeable in an outboard.
If you get any list to port at speed now it may be more severe to starboard
with the counter rotation.
