Couple of prop questions

I have a 1993 Crownline 250CR it currently has an aluminum prop. The numbers are not clear so no idea what is currently on there. I know it is a 19P and from what I can see it is a 15 1/4". I am looking to get more hole shot. I am a diver and carry heavy loads often. Top speed is unimportant to me. I have tried to contact Crownline to see what the OEM prop is but they are of no help and the Crownline owners forum has been shut down. Is there anyway I can find out what the OEM prop is? And would anyone have advise as to what would be a good replacement for this boat to achieve the desired results? I am not in an area that has a boat shop that does the whole test them until you find one that works thing so I am stuck with what I buy.

And, a friend of mine found a quicksilver SS prop diving. It is in exceptional shape but the numbers do not match anything I can find online to identify it. It would be pure luck if this prop could be used to replace mine. The numbers are 48-89800 A5 19P.

Added: The boat has a 5.7/Bravo one. I guess that would help with answering my questions.

Ayuh,... You can try the found prop, though at 19" of pitch, it'll probably behave about the same as ya got...

Find a 17", 'n try it...
It'll help the low-end pullin' power, by droppin' some pitch...

Thanks for the reply.

The found prop appears to be a 14 1/2 19P where mine "appears" to be a 15 1/4" 19P so my thought was the 3/4" drop in diameter might do the trick. I will test but it for sure, nothing to lose but in the mean time I would like to find as much info as I can about what my boat had or should have had and what this prop actually is.

Ayuh,... Try it, but diameter plays very little roll in the grand scheme of things...

Shop for Pitch, 'n diameter will take care of itself...

It will be a few days before I can get the prop I have tested but I will post results. One concern I have is these two props are so much different. Not just meaning aluminum vs SS but the design. The current aluminum is a HUGE prop with a ton of blade surface the SS is smaller but more imprortantly has very small blades with straight trailing edges. I am not sure what that means in the grand scheme of things but I have a gut feeling this prop is going to over rev the engine. This prop looks to have been off a High Performance type application where as my boat is anything but high performace.

Ayuh,... It sounds like a Cleaver style prop,...
It may, or may not work for ya....

The engineers that design props, adjust the diameter to reflect the blade design, 'n surface area...
That's why I say to shop Pitch, 'n the diameter will take care of itself...

You might have to find a Big bladed 17" to fix yer problems...

Looks like the give it a try method is the winner. I will check around to see if I can find a friend with a 17" to try before I buy if this prop doesn't work.

Still interested in the info if anyone has it one what my boat would have come with. It's amazing the new owners of Crownline are not concerned about the people that bought boats before they bought the company out. That info has to be available and it would go along way towards making future relationships. I also have a 1996 Sweetwater and can call Godfrey marine at any time, even if they can not answer my question they point towards someplace that can.

Update, I contacted Mercury Marine via email. They responded via personal phone call so I had a clear understanding of the situation as I explained it to them. Now thats customer service.

Anyway, This boat never should have had an aluminum prop on it to begin with. The boat calls for a 19P for a good all around prop. An aluminum just flexs too much for this size boat. However, with that said I also know the way boat mechanics/dealers in this area think or at least a few of them in particular. They do not like SS props because of the damage they can cuase to the outdrive when something is hit and on this lake it's not if, it is when. So I am sure the dealer proped this boat with the aluminum.

The Cleaver prop simply will not work on this boat it is a totally different application not built to dig hard and push a big heavy boat but rather as explained to me to cut the water as in for an HP boat that gets air often. I am pretty sure this boat will only see air on the trailer.

The recommended prop is a Mirage plus 48-13700A46.
