Hi all just purcheased a 85 procraft1650V with a 90hp rudeand i have a bunch of question The previous owner said he replaced the vro unit because it was seeping where it mounts onto the motor , my question is this . How do you no the unit is really pumping the amount of oil it needs to . I have read here that this model has an alarm system for low oil and overheating but how do you really know the sensors work or if maybe the motor already has damage from improper oiling with the previous owner? Also should there be any play in the prop shaft when moving the prop. I can move it in and out about an eighth of inch by hand .

thnx, all

mark

PC Mark,

The propshaft play is somewhat normal. Alot of it could be the prop mounting with the castle nut.

I am a VRO fan. Yes, your system has a warning.

The system should give you a "chirp" when you turn the key to the the on position. This tells you that the system is active and functioning.

I would order a manual. It will give you the warning system cadence for dicifering what the various warning cadences are telling you, ie; low oil, no oil, hot, etc.

Yes, a manual is a definite need. You can get them here on this website at a reasonable price.

Change that impeller before you go out! I can't stress this enough. Better to spend a few bucks now than 1000's later  .

Happy boating
