Thanks Bob VT, I wasn't sure if I should just post on the old one or not. I still need to know if the full access panel over the fuel tank is in fact a USCG regulation, if anyone knows I would appreciate it. I would just like to put this behind us and go boating.

Yes it is common practice to access the top of the tank and the sending unit.......

No its not a reg, you have to have access ports to inspect fittings but a full tank hatch ...nope.

my concern would be for the stringers, the deck is nothing.
I can just about guarentee they ain't sealed. and wouldn't be surprised if they just sistered onto the rotted ones...with nails.

Thanks BobVT and jonesg. I found the reg about fitting access, but I was told by one of the shops that full panel was required (the old deck was made this way). Yes, I'm very concerned about what's below deck. IMO, it's like tearing an engine apart and not putting new bearings in to save a couple of bucks. You are already there, all the time and labor to get there and you skip the important work. I just want my money back, so I can get it done right. It's hard to babysit people from a state away.

Its kinda obvious they have no integrity, I come across those types from time to time in my biz. But the boat biz seems rife with them.
Fortunately you use a credit card, that gives you a big club.;)

No matter how it resolves, the credit card Co keeps records of disputes, even if the business is found innocent,
one too many disputes and they lose the account or at least their rates go up, someone has to foot the bill for dispute resolutions.

an astute business operator knows this, but obviously they lack integrity and sense to get out of their own way.
For $3K I'd fix it right and paint your house too.;)
