cover and recoil assembly compatibility? Mercury Mark 5 and KE4

Hello:<br /><br />I have a 1949 KE4 without a top cover and recoil assembly. Someone has a top cover and recoil from a Mark 5 motor available and I'm wondering if the covers for these motors are the same? I.e. if the Mark 5 cover has the same dimensions and specs as the cover and recoil assembly for the KE4?<br /><br />Thanks for your replies.

Hi TSutter,<br /> The Mark 5 and KE4 are two completely different animals. They don't share any of the major trim pieces. A KE4 DOES use the same recoil/cowling as a Mark 7, and the recoil is the same as used on the KE7, KF7, KG7, KH7, KG4 series of motors.<br /> Drop me a line and I'll see what I have...<br />- Scott
