Re: Covverting to Thru-Hull Exhaust?
Here is the order of parts:
At the transom, you have thru hull fittings/tips. These have flanges that screw into the boat and require a sealant. Outside, the are purty and come in all shorts of shapes and sizes and looks (for the exhaust to blow out). Inside, the are designed to accept marine wet exhaust hose and are essentially a very short pipe. They need to be sized (Inside Diameter) I/D" for you ride. On mine, it's 4" I/D. Every time a hose meets a pipe, it gets locked down with 2 straps/clamps.
So, it goes risers/elbows to marine wet exhaust hoses to thru hull fitting/tips. On a V engine, that's two thru hull fittings/tips, two lengths of marine wet exhaust hose and eight clamps.
