Hi All. Just bought an used boat with Mariner 4 stroke 150 Hp . It has only 180hours. I've try to open the Top Cowl but I can't, yet I follow the maintenance book's instruction: PULL OUT THE REAR COWL LATCH, LIFT THE TOP COWL...Nothing. The latch come out a little, it seem that was locked somewhere inside or maybe corrosion.
Your help will be very appreciate.

Thank you! It's what we did with a friend: one pulling the other is lifting. But it doesn't come up. It seem to me the latch is effect-less.

Sir roxylyon, sometimes you have to get rough with some things in life ,hold latch out like faztbullet said, tear your motor cover off man, you got this you can do it.
Good for you to buy a four stroke.

Thanks all . Actually I found out what's wrong with the cowl. A part in the Rear Latch Assembly is broken. That's why when I pull in the Handle Latch, is has no effect; and it doesn't free the cowl. So I've got to remove the Handle Latch unscrew the 2 bolt holding the Rear Latch Assembly to the Rear Panel, to pull up the Cowl; when I Lift the cowl The RLA come with It.. If this can help someone in the future .
