try Twin Cities Outboards. They deal in a lot of older and unavailable parts.

Re: cowling seal

keep an eye on ebay for a used cowling with a good seal they come on there from time to time. splitting a fuel line will work if u can find the right size. its a pretty tight fit. my local dealer had some on a roll but it was like 12$ a foot

There is a product made by Taco Industries that can be adapted to work. It is a product widely used by the marine/RV industry to cover rough edges on openings in fiberglass and aluminum.

An internet search (mine) shows nothing.

I have a few feet-for free, if I can find it.

Contact me at:

projectstoomany@juno.com.

Re: cowling seal

while only 5 of the last 177 posts (including mine) have received no response-zero-at all-i feel that we are all supposed to be here to help. i just picked some of this up from a shop near me that has been in business since 1959-lots of old parts and the guy knows his business. good resource. i do not believe that we are allowed to post shop names on the forum, so email me if interested. be prepared to pay $17-it fit my 59 10hp just fine and is johnson/omc oem stuff.

smeltjr@aol.com

I have a 65 Johnson 6hp and just replaced the gasket with one from a 1987 50hp Johnsons. I compared them and they are the same. It worked for me.
