i think crab meat taste 10 times better than lobster meat, lobster meat is just bland.
Maybe if they steamed lobsters with old bay, they would taste better.

i am starting to get turned off from crab. Lately, whenever i buy frozen crab legs, i thrown a quarter of them out b/c they were rotting prior to being frozen.
I have to boil rather than steam or otherwise they taste/smell like ammonia. Maybe I am just getting too spoiled?
taint nothin though like a good ol lobsta bake where they come outta the water, go straight into a pot of boiling salt water followed by a dip in melted butter......... MMMMMMMMMMM
Waaay too early up at this end. They start hitting mid-June, but I usually wait 'til mid-July.
I put the crabbing skiff in the drink yesterday though - I'm psyched now!
when do you think the crabs hit the costal bays around OC, MD?
I will be goin down june 19 to assatuge island. I would like to catch a few dozen to eat at night. Cook em over a wood fire in the grill pit. that would take skill keeping the flame hot enough to keep the water boiling, but not too hot.
steam them instead of boiling. Not only better but easier if you're cooking out.
June 19 you will have lots of crabs at assateague. Convert squid/bloodworms to croaker, croaker to crab. As I say to my vegan friends, I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat tofu.
That's a funny story. Maybe it wanted to use the flip flop as a CFD?
It's amazing how hard those little boogers can pinch. I picked up a fiddler crab when I was little. As you all are probably aware, fiddler crabs have only one large claw. Well, it's large enough to appear out of proportion to a fiddler crab. Compared to other crabs it's still small. I underestimated the strength of that little claw and that ended my curiosity with those things right then and there.
