Cracked 3.0

I am looking at a boat with a cracked engine block (3.0 merc). I have heard that this engine is based off the 2.5 chevy. will the standard automotive block work? or do I need a marine engine? Thanks

Nope,... It's ToTally Different than the 2.5l Automotive motors....

from a dealer or 1 of the many many aftermarket engine companies/rebuilders out there.
A 3.0 is an industrial engine not used in automotive.
