Cracked and bent anti-cav plate.

Yup I was cruising down the river when we heard a loud thump. Started hearing a gurgling sound when the motor was trimmed out. Anyways it didn't seem to affect performance so I didn't notice this til I got home. If I didn't hear that strange gurgling sound when running part throttle I wouldn't be as worried about it. Should I try and heat and bend this straight or will I just snap it off. '84 75 hp rudie.

It will likely snap. An easy repair for any respectable marine shop.

Any good welder with aluminum experience can ease that back into place and weld it. If it snaps then he can clean it up and weld it back in.
No big deal. Don't try JB weld or anything like it. Not structurally sound and the welder will have a devil of a job trying to weld it afterward.

Gotcha. Well has anyone had success with this? If so I could use some pointers. My choice marine shop is 3 months backed up.

I do it all the time. Support it close to gearcase with a 2x6 and beat into submission with a dead blow hammer. Then weld as necessary. Sand, prime and paint with OEM paints. Done

Find out what weld shop has marine experience, pull your lower unit and take to them. it will be fixed right.

Man all we've been catching lately is baby blues.....

But, my buddy caught a 28lb. flathead. That joker fought like a 70lb. blue!
