I'll start by saying i dont know anything about boats, but I am a mechanic and can handle fixing about anything if I know something about it. As I stated though i know nothing about boats. So heres my problem. I was checking the charging system and noticed in the battery compartment that the fiberglass is cracking, there are 2 long cracks not gaping but noticable and I dont know what to do or what will happen if i dont do anything. Is the bottom of the boat cracked as well, It dont seem to have leaks. Anyway all help will be greatly appreciated. By the way the boat is a 94 maxum 1800sr2 Thanks for your help

Re: Cracking In Fiberglass?

There is a LOT of boat between the battery and the BOTTOM of the BOAT ;)generally it is a plywood deck with some glass and paint

But a picture would go a long way towards understanding your concerns

Re: Cracking In Fiberglass?

It is very common to have cracks in those areas. There is a lot of add ons after the hull is laid. These add ons are done quickly and sloppily sometimes. Resin is applied with a brush and becomes too thick in certain areas and will crack over time. You probably are not looking at a serious problem at all but pictures would be very helpfull.
