Well I placed my 61 lark 40 hp on craigslist for a very low price of 250 bucks. Someone spent alot on this engine for parts and a BRAND NEW PROP and I cant even get a nibble from anyone on craigslist. They act like its got to be running and 100% lake ready.......dreamers,so tonight I listed it FOR FREE and said the first person who finds it in the trash dumpster up the street can have it......OH I forgot to give an address, phone number. or way for them to reach me............tuff haha

Lower if working $150, prop $50. Just parted one out...tossed the rest away for free..no one wants an old Selectric shift...

I bought my Lark for $50. It needed electrical wiring cleaned up and a starter ratchet. Nothing can be found for under $300 around my area no matter how old. When I found my 5hp Johnson for $160 I jumped at the chance. It needs a $40 washer though. One ad I saw was for a "near mint original" 9 or 10 hp for a no-dicker price of $500.

It's pretty customary here to put stuff in front of your house if you want to sell it....
Put a $10 pricetag on it & it will sit all day long....
Put "free" on it & it will be gone before ya get back into the house.....​

I've had pretty good luck with Craigs list,buying,selling, outboards,bicycles etc. and wanteds.

Haut, around here it's just the opposite. Put a free sign on it and everybody thinks it's junk. Put a $10 tag on it, somebody will steal it.

Maybe its just me,but it seems every time I want to buy something I have to pay top buck or GOLD for it. When I want to sell something no matter what it is if I dont give it away for pennys on the doller NO ONE WANTS IT. cant figure it out. I had a chevy truck that I had alot of work/parts into new paint good tires nice looking body with a bad tranny. Tried to sell it out of my yard for 500 and it sat for a month without anyone even asking if something was wrong with it. I put a new sign on it saying "for sale 200.00" and people came out of the wood work calling wanting it real bad. I decided that if they really wanted it for a fair price and didnt want to just steal it for nuthin they would have already called so I just gave it to my brother for free.The wheels and tires were worth over 200,gezzzzzzzz

I must admit though there are a lot of my people in my area that are the same way about stuff. I call them part of the "money grows on trees generation". They would rather go greatly into debt and buy new stuff that cost so much that they have to work over time to pay for it so they never use it. Or,,,, they have nothing and yet everything I own that works and is older they call junk. But, they have nothing. People like that really pi*s me off. Unfortunately, most people are like that now.

If you gave most people a million dollars today ,within a year they would end up more broke then they are right now.

Not to hijack my own thread but it seems that kids today dont give a rats arse about fixing anything. Its the need to fix something or do without that teaches the value of a buck and why most working folks cant afford a nice home AND a brand new car at the same time unless you are rich. I bet most of those who are losing their homes to the banks have never learned this.When I was a kid my dad bought me a bike and when it broke he couldnt afford to get me another then. So I took several broken bikes and "made" me another. I enjoyed it more than the new one. My wife wonders why I hate to get rid of something thats broken so I guess I will hang the old lark on a wall in my shop and make it into another conversation piece if I cant sell it for a few bucks.
