Re: CRAIGSLIST Do it the right way

I hear ya. I got a car for sale and have had 3 calls on it. One was going to maybe be up in my area, never called back. The second wanted to come up at a specific time and we made arrangments...told her to call me when she was ready to come look at it and never got a call, and that woman caused me to balk on another person because I didn't want them to make the drive up if the other person decided to buy, so I told her to email me from CL and I'd email her back to let her know one way or another as a courtesy...no email!

The thing is, I just saw the EXACT same car with 200k miles on it and the guy wants a grand more than I'm asking with 170k and a motor with only 70k on it! My car is the deal, you'd think people would be clamoring to come see it. Oh well, at least it's not a desperate situation to sell, I'll sit on it until it goes...maybe I need to raise my price?

Re: CRAIGSLIST Do it the right way

thats excactly why when Im selling something on CL I always tell them to call me before they head out to meet me. I always tell them what time frame I'm available. its for sale for cash and if someone shows up before them and offers the money im going to sell it. Unless its being held for a friend, its not being held. the first one with cash in hand gets it.

Very wize Shizzy. I learned that after a few no shows. I tell them to call me when they are ready to head out and I will hold it until X:XX to allow them enough time to get here.

Too many times I offered to hold an item til they could get there 'after work', get several calls in the mean time, and then the original party never shows. No one has ever come to see the item when I call them back and tell them that the party I was holding if for never showed up.

No Mas!

I also feel it weeds out the tire kickers. I sold a kayak last summer and the first people showed up (per agreement) had cash in hand. I had a fair price and included all the accesories. I was asking $250 (what I bought it for) and she offered $200 with the money right there in her hand. she got a new kayak and I had two Ben Franklins in my hand. :D I put it on CL in the AM, got off work and I had my cash by 5:30PM.

I then had some guy call me at 9PM saying he was outside my house. I told him you didnt listen. you were supposed to call first. I sold it to the lady with a fist full of $100 bills who showed up as instruted.
