Re: Craigslist Inflation?

.........................People say they are gonna show up and never do. People don't speak english when they call. It drives me nuts. Enjoy it while it's free...

I find the same on the opposite end of the spectrum, I've answered several adds, driven miles to look at something, got there on time or just ahead of time and had either no one home or found that the boat was sold a week ago.
In those cases I just take down their address and do a reverse listing and list something else for them, like a Corvette for $500 or similar. If they want to play games, then I can do the same. Listing their address as the location of a free beer and barbecue party does wonders too.

I drove two hours to see one boat, got there, 3 minutes ahead of schedule, could see the boat as pictured in the back yard, behind a fence, and yet no one answered the door, no one would answer the phone. I had a buddy try and got the same thing, they were all fine up till you showed up, then no contact and they won't answer the calls again from that number.

I have no idea what they thought they were doing, but it ticked off a few dozen or more people. The boat is still there, it don't move, and the ad still shows up from time to time. If you drive by and see someone, they run inside and lock the door, they won't speak to anyone. I think there's mental issues there or something. I think that place is game for a Free chicken manure wanted ad.

I've listed many items on CL, only had one or two no shows but I could tell from the start that they weren't likely to show. I find usually if they will call, they will show up. Those that make appointments by email are more likely not to show. If I tell someone I'm coming to see something, I mean it. I do often find people that are shocked to see someone actually show up though.
Of coarse that's gotten me a lot of deals too.
