I just received a new engine for my Starcraft, a 4.3L. This new engine came with a crank sensor. My old engine did not have one. Must this sensor be hooked up or do I just leave it alon
Is it perhaps an mpi ready engine ? Maybe need more detail ?
presuming your old engine is a carb ? Is the new engine a complete unit to replace yours ?
If your original engine application is a carbureted model then you wouldn't connect anything up to the crank shaft sensor but you'll have to/want to leave the sensor in place as the sensor will double as an Oil Plug as there's an O-ring on the sensor too.
most base engines after 96 come with a crank sensor regardless if its carb or MPI. as Fun times stated, if you are running a carb'd motor, its there to simply keep oil in.
