Hello I have a 1973 or older 20 HP mercury 200 series with thunderbolt ignition, any how I discovered I had no spark in my cylinders so I pulled the fly wheel off to check the wiring all looks good so I pulled the cover off that exposes the points and discovered that if I rotate the crank Shaft the points were not moving. Checked the points to see if thay were seased but they were not. I then grabbed the crankshaft and pulled up and down and it almost moves 1/8 of an inch up and down. If I pull up and turn the crank shaft the points will move, when I let go the shaft drops and they no longer move. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I was thinking it could possibly be the bearings on the crank shaft worn out. If anyone is able to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
