89 Evinrude 88 SPL only running on three cylinders????

Ok so I have replace all lot on this motor and one of the plugs won't fire?
It seems that the coil pack is not getting any power. When I pull the plug and ground it...no spark. I have replace the power pack two months ago with all new coils, plugs, and wires. I guess the Power Pack could be going out already?

What should I check in the ignition prior to the Power Pack, Coils and Plugs

Any help would be greatly apprecaited ......need to get back on the water:eek:

Check your timer base and its wiring connections out.

If you pull that plug off while running, (use insulated pliars), watch for a spark going to the block from the ignition coil. OMC's are notorious for this.

This may sound dumb but have you tried a different plug?
I know they were new a couple months ago, but, they do foul and can cause alot of headache trying to figure out the problem.

What you meant to say..."It's called reading! Top to bottom, left to right... a group of words together is called a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches... Midol for any cramps"

Unlikely that a new power pack is the problem, but is always possible. If it's a Bombardier pack, purchased from any Bombardier dealer, it has a one year parts warranty on it. There are two other components in that system, the stator and the timer base. Either can cause firing issues. The factory service manual has a good troubleshooting section for both these components. The voltage output test is esp good. If you have a special "peak reading" voltmeter, the stator should output at least 150 volts when the engine is cranking. The timer base should output at least 0.3 volts when cranked. Would be nice to know they are both working normally prior to condemning any other ignition components.
