Working on a 1992 9.9hp Evinrude and pulled the carb to clean and service. The manual calls for a special gauge to measure and adjust the float level. Why can't they just specify how to measure the float level and drop and what those measurments should be
Does anyone have a number I can use to set the float level on this motor?

RodC,

If you turn the carb upside down, and adjust the float to be level (paralell) with the carb body,it would fit the gauge perfectly if you had one.

DHP

And while you have the carb inverted, blow into the fuel inlet to make sure the float, inlet needle and seat are working together to close off the flow of fuel.
