Hello everyone,
As I have posted earlier, my boat, a 2006 Glastron 175 with a 4.3 gl and a Penta drive that developed a creak in the steering on our last outing. I poured over the forums to find threads with similar problem, and was ready to lube steering cable, or possibly replace my gimbal bearing etc.
I lubed up the actuator pushrod etc, no good. I was all set to start taking things apart, but decided to snoop around a bit first. At first the noise seemed to be coming from where the tiller arm goes through the transom( how could this be?). Finally after much turning, listening, and snooping inside the outdrive, I thought that it could possibly be the hose for the water pick up or discharge rubbing on the bellows. Well what do ya know, a little bit of armourall sprayed on the rubber and viola, no more creak!!
Gotta love this kind of fix, there is no sign of any brackets missing to allow the hoses to rub, but will know more when I pick up a good manual for the drive. Can anyone recommend one manual over another?
Thanks, Mike.
