I'm new to boats, have been reading here daily for a week or so. Here's the short and sweet:
Is there anywhere to gather information about a boat motor from just the VIN off the Boat Title?
And more details...
I haven't seen the boat since I was in gradeschool in the 80s, but am driving 3 hours one way to pick it up in 2 days. Title says it's a fiberglass 1979 14' Crestliner Runabout, and has the VIN. Grandma thinks it has a 70HP Evinrude, but the title for the motor is very sketchy - says
YEAR: 1978
VIN: 12070
MAKE: ROLC
MODEL: ROLC
BODY STYLE: BOAT
No HP or Cylinder info - in fact the title doesn't even say it's a Motor or Outboard. Is this normal for an Outboard Title? Is there any way to positively ID the Motor from the Boat VIN or this feeble Motor title?
Thanks in advance,
CHAD
