www.crimereports.com Anyone else looking at this site? I can not believe that our local Sheriff tells people to watch this site but, it has not been updated :(

As an example we had a homicide in town but whatever department is suppose to report it has not done it.

However, it is a great site to keep a watchful eye on the predators in the area and to establish where the high crime areas are.

The reason I mention this is because my wife is a legal advocate for the victims of Domestic Violence and those reports seldom get posted. Being married to an advocate sure has made me more aware of the problems and predators in the area.

An interesting place to check. ;)

Re: Crime Reports

I think that would be good. We could see the skeletons in the closets and even the ones buried in the basement.

About the only up to date information (or alleged up to date) are the locations of the sex offenders and the minor misdemeanor crimes........ like I mentioned it is a good way to keep up with the predators and know the "bad" areas/neighborhoods.

Whatever happened to back fence gossip?? It wasn't very accurate, but it was faster than the net. That is how people used to keep, up, but, sad as it is, people don't talk to people any more; they are too busy texting, etc. :(

Re: Crime Reports

Well identification of the sex offenders....... places where the assaults happen and thefts are a good way to educate people. I would be concerned enough to educate the children that there are some "bad" people and areas out there.

JB you are spot on. The gossip helps and at times it is funny when it is so far off the point/event.

Bubba....... my lovely wife has her own Sig P229 in 40 S&W and since she works with all the police agencies..... she knows the appropriate action ;) Having her position has educated us allot more and we keep up with the bad people.

Re: Crime Reports

"Teleneighbor" thats a good one. A neighbor had a break-in last summer around noon, and he went door to door to tell everyone. He spoke to one neighbor who thinks she answered the door to the suspected theives two days earlier. They pretended/claimed to work for a home security co. and told her they could give her a quick estimate if they could look over the house.........from inside. She saw a guy driving a white van idleing in the driveway and smelled something fishy and sent them away, didnt bother to call the law. the teleneighbor neighbor was robbed two days later. Be very suspicious of vans or other unknown vehicles rolling through and mutiple door to door soliciters of anything these days. W a getaway driver waiting for them they can be in and out and gone in minutes. Sheriff said this is happening all over the country.

Re: Crime Reports

Bob_Vt: Congrats to your wife for being an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence crimes do make it in our daily paper as well as them going to court. What I do not understand, the woman drops the charges and they go merrily on there way as nothing happened only to be abused once again.

We have a great program for locating where sex offenders live in our city. Click on the website, brings up their picture, where they live. It is up to the parents to keep their children informed. I always talk to my grand children to be aware of their surroundings, the possibility of people young and old that may want to hurt them. One thing that we as adults overlook is to remind them that a family member could hurt them as well as a stranger.

One other thing that we as parents do not inform our children about is drugs. And I mention to my grand children that even though they have friends, some friend or friends may try to have them try drugs and get them hooked.

You can not just remind a child once, it has to be repeated every now and then.
