Since there is so wakesufing section here, I thought I would post it in here and see if anyone have any advice or suggestion of my "wave?" The boat is a 2001 aztek sunstar with about 600 lbs in the front, 750 next to the motor (its a direct drive) and another 375 or so on the backseat. Any tips or advice I will take happily. Thanks!!

Link worked for me. It looked like you sped up a bit at 24 seconds. I think the wake was a bit better before that happened. The swim platform is cutting into the wake a fair bit but it only seems to be affecting the top edge so that's no big deal. The really wide angle camera is distorting it some so it's a bit hard to guess how it is. You look to have enough list in the hull.
I think I would try moving the 750 further back. That will steepen the wake some and maybe give more drive when you ride it. It will likely shorten the pocket a little, which is not a plus but you can get that back by adding 1/2 MPH to your speed. How tall is the wake on a rider the way it is now? I think you have enough weight to give a pretty nice wake.

OK. great thanks. The wake is probably 3 feet or so tall. I am going to get pics and video with some on it as soon as the lake is not 37 degrees in the water, haha. It was CRAZY cold. I thought we had a good start and sounds like you think the same. Some good stuff to think about. THANKS!!

At 3' you have enough to surf with for sure. Your board will make a big difference on how well the wake will perform.

It's really hard to tell how the wake will do without someone surfing on it to gauge what the slope of the wake looks like & performs. I'd bite the bullet and go for a test run in the cold water just to get us a video of you freezing! : )

I've got a couple of wetsuits you're more than welcome to borrow? Let me know what day you go down, If I can make it, I'll film from another boat?

Got the boat out yesterday and ran some surf sets with just 1500 lbs in the rear surf corner. Misc passengers. The wake looked good for a direct drive but we couldn't get rope less. It could be us, since we just started surfing. Only needed very small nudges by the rope. I will try to get a video up today when I get home from work.

I look forward to see your videos...Beautiful day, water was cold...kids were swimming between boats for brief bouts...I more than likely will not bring the boards or skis out until the water is a few degrees warmer...

Don't worry about letting go of the rope. The longer you are up, the longer you are learning, the less time everyone in the boat spends picking you out of the water. Technique makes a big difference in how much 'push' you need.

That was going to be my biggest question once I get this video up for you all to see. If the wave looks ok and we just need some more practice. I feel like we could go forever with the rope, just small nudges here and there.

Re: Critique my surf wake

Here is a quick video, develops into the wake so everyone can take a look and tell me what they think. This was our first time wakesurfing. Both of us have done lots of ocean surfing, some wakeboarding, and lots of snowboarding, so Im sure that helped. This video wasnt me but my friend. After the gopro died, we both were ropeless for maybe 5 to 10 seconds. It was a freaking blast. Cant wait til it gets warmer. The one thing I was worried about was my boat engine bogging down pretty good trying to go a little fast at 10 to 11 mph. Maybe a prop change? Its a 3 blade, not sure on the details, and the boat is a 99 aztek sunstar with a mercruiser 5.7 mpi. ENJOY!
