crossflow 1977 vs 1978-1984

what is the difference between a 1977 140 crossflow and a 1978-1984 140 crossflow ?? i am trying to find a rebuild kit and all i can find is 78-84 this guy on ebay sells the whole kits...pistons, rings,wrist pins, wrist pin bearrings, gasket set, crankshaft oil seal kit...for $495.00 is this a good deal or should i stay away from ebay ??

The main difference, powerhead-wise, in a 1977 & 78 140 vs. a 79 & newer is the center main bearing size on the crank. The pistons, rings, gaskets etc should be the same.

What brand parts is the Ebay guy selling? Who will do the machine work on your block?

a local machine shop is doing the work they have done marine blocks before...the box in the pic is hard to see but it is either GLM or CLM..it says 1979-1999 will this work for my powerhead mine is a 1977...i dont need a main bearring or rod bearrings but i am going to install new wrist pin bearrings because of the new pistons....thanks again

Is the local machine shop an automotive shop or a marine shop?
