So kind of a newbie to boating. We are looking at a 2007 crownline 240 EX. It has 64 hours on it. It has M5.7 L Alpha 250 php. Is this a big enough engine for this size boat? We have 4 kids and will probably have friends or family so propba/bly 10 + people.
We will wakeboard, ski, tube. Is this enough power. We were set on a chaparral and found this one. Thoughts??

What outdrive?

Initially I believe you will be fine, but truth be known even my 7.4l MPI feels the strain of 10 adults and a tuber. I think in your situation the outdrive may make all the difference, if its a duo prop then I think you will be very happy, with a heavy load and pulling a tube which is probably the biggest load you will pull. The problem with a single prop would be that a heavy load would likely blow the prop out at take off so you will have to ease up a little more then you would a duo prop(but if you floor a duo prop in the same situation you will blow it out too). The main benefit to a duo prop is take off, twin counter rotating props give you alot more bite at take off, on the other side a single prop will most likely have a bit more on the top end. Having more speed on top may not even be a consideration to you. If you were to have a "normal" load say 2 adults and 4 kids either outdrive and your motor would be plenty, 4 adults and 6 kids, your going to feel it. get it out on the water and see what you think.

A 24' boat is a big runabout, but 10 passengers I can tell you from experience gets a little crowded

I'll second the 10 passengers.... a little too crowded and likely a little overloaded. Both will have a big impact on how the boat handles.

I currently own a 240EX Razor. 350Mag with Bravo III. We have had on several occasions 10 to 13 people. The boat is rated for 13 people at 185lbs ea. Yes it is going to feel a bit full but I can tell you that we tube and wakeboard with the boat that full. And we don't feel the boat is overcrowded as it has a lot of room. Great boat, excellent quality and lots of family fun
