Crownline 270 BR

Just wandering if anyone can provide me some guidance on a 2003 270BR. I really like the look and size of the boat, but I'm not sure of the quality and performance. I am a first-time boat buyer, so I would like and all feedback you can provide. Asking price for the boat is $35,000 with 87 hours on the engine...is this a far price?

87 hours on the engine? do you mean the engine has been replaced? IF the boat has 87 hours on it then yeah its a good price, provided it has been taken care of, the hours I would consider low but if it has been stored outside uncovered then your looking at some pretty serious issues. The motor should be a fuel injected big block for that size boat definitely worth the look. As a new boat you will find Crownline boats to be on par with any other high end manufacturers, and they have JD Power to back up that fact as well. The problem is that this boat is 8 years old and you will find out that the care the boat has been given over those 8 years is much more important then the manufacturer. To give you an idea I bought my Crownline 3 years ago so similar age at the time, and I paid $27,000 for a mint condition 24'8" Crownline with 250 hours. I'm just guessing here but I think the 270 went for around $80,000 or better new. So if you like the boat and it checks out to be in great shape I would jump on it

Crown makes good boats. Don't get too caught up in the 87 hours. That is very little usage, but if the boat sat for 5 years with no maintenance there may be some issues that need to get fixed. Rubber tends to detoriate when it is not used. Seems to do it quicker than when it is used.

If all the maintenance is in line and it checks out then it would be a good boat IMHO. I would take it to a mechanic and have it looked at and have the ECM checked for total hours. That way at least you get no surprises.

I would plan on replacicing items made of rubber as their flexibility might be gone. Finally, check on boat trader, iboats, ebay, NADA to get an idea of pricing.

i work at crownline for the last 12 years! built many of the 270br, now known as the 275ss. i put stringers motor mounts, bulkheads and floors in all yhe models. i dont own one of course but they are beautiful boats built like a sherman tank too!!
