Brace yourselves, we're not out of it yet. OPEC cut production by 1.5 mil barrels a day for the specific purpose of driving up the price. Once again, the govt. stood by and didn't do a damn thing, just sat there with their hands down their pants. It's going to take some serious regime change in Washington to get a group that might consider standing up to OPEC. Let's hope the next group of people we elect have the stones to do something about this.

You can send OPEC a nasty-gram letting them know what you think of their price gouging here: http://www.opec.org/home/contact/contact.aspx

Or in person here:

I doubt that we'll see a return to the ridicules prices we saw earlier this year. Too many people got their fingers burnt, so everyone will be a little more cautious, I hope... We are seeing petrol and diesel prices drop here too, despite the Aussie dollar falling faster than a Soviet space vehicle.

Let's hope both situations remain the same. (I get paid in USD :D:D:D)

Its 2.19 right down the road from me. An article in the paper had reports of 1.99 gas around Brownsville, TX.
