My starboard engine had been running warm, so I changed the raw water pump and the risors.
It now runs all day long at 160 like it is supposed to.
My problem now is, when I am coming into dock or anchor and back off to idle, the overheat buzzer starts intermediately
buzzing so I shut it down and it goes to 220 instantly??
The water is flowing well, does not make sense?

a cheap infrared thermometer can verify if your gauge is reading accurately. neat little tool for all sorts of uses. have you verified that the engine really is that hot? could be a bad reading.

Check the connections on the temp sending unit first. Also Crusaders take a while to run the air bubbles out of the FWC system. Each time you run it and it cools of check the coolant level in the heat exchanger and fill as needed. It may take several times to get the system completely full. That sending may be going bad also. When you changed the raw water pump were any vanes missing off the impeller. If so then you have to find them in either the transmission oil cooler or the heat exchanger.
