Re: Cunning Republicans....

Obfuscation and Distraction is the key techniques of the radical right, and they are good at it!
PW in the most recently locked political thread you responded to me on a point I had made. Specifically that response and I are in complete agreement.
Actually as the Bush presidentcy regresses and the majority legislative branch follows suit we agree more in substance.
However, not addressed in my original point was your inaccurate distinction between right (conservative) and Republican (neo-con).
You will find that the more "radical" the right the more disdain for the neo-con. And Bush is no champion of the radical right.
And a honest conservative wouldn't wouldn't give the present bunch in power the slightest arguement in favor.

Save for a mere handful, Democrat or Republican they are all self-serving, bought and paid for, criminal and dangerously immoral shadows of human beings ever to walk the earth.

And of course with all the whole hearted support of the liberals behind our President and this Counties policies, it's no wonder the "tin pot dictators of the world" are flicking boogers at us.

Put the blame where it really belongs... a Country divided (by dirty partizan politics) is already half way to defeat.

Thanx for nothing Jack ass’s

I think I agree with you, Skinny in part at least, although the distinction between radical right and repubs is somewhat foggy to me.

I do agree with many of what I would consider "Conservative" principles (Spending under control; free trade; personal responsibility; limited welfare, limited government, etc.) I just don't recognize those conservative principles in the current crop of Repubs. I don't see many of them in the current crop of dems, either, but with dem control, we may have a chance at some oversight, which for some reason congress has chosen to abandon as their role.

Money and power are the keys to all evil, and no political idealogy is immune from that, of course.

myself I would actually like to see IF in fact any laws were broken before prosecuting Foley. seems some chistian moralty laws were broken but that is between Foley and his god and foley and his moral majority.
But breaking a comandment is not nessasarily punishable with prison time in this country, yet.
seems he admited to breaking some moral laws before strategiclly placing himself in seclusion hoping the next scandal will take him from the hot seat. Foley is well aware of the ADD attention span of the average voter.
I drank a whale of a lot of alcohol on and off in my time, never had any leanings towards young males ever.
the molestation and alchohol excuses just dont wash.

Frankly, the issue is way beyond Foley and his behavior. As bad as that is, it pales in comparison with what Hastert and the others did with trying to cover this up. They are empowered as parents of these kids, and they were more concerned with maintaining power and protecting one of their own than the welfare of these kids.

They got caught.

that also remains to be seen
just as I wont instantly support them with no facts,AKA our president, I wont instantly condem them with no facts either.
on the face they do seem shady but if we get a clean non-partisan investigation we shall see.
if they are not guilty of a partisan coverup they will come out smelling like a rose, if they were then they will just come out smelling of pork on the hoof.

Re: Cunning Republicans....

so far the only actual FACT I can find is Foley admitted to a wrong, not a specific wrong and so far no crimminal wrong doing. he has admitted actions that the majority of americans deem immoral.
the hiding in a rehab I find reprehensible.
on what the other representatives knew time will tell.
but seems if Foley was actually a lush one of his colleages surly must have known.
we all know the senator from MA is a lush but seems being a lush does not ban one from public office.
as far as any crimminal action on Foley's part the investigations by LAW enforcement branches should trump MSNBC and FOX news, at least I hope it does.
so far about the only facts are Foley admitted to "improprities" and went into hiding.
I will reserve judgement on the rest until more FACT is known.

Yep, Crunch, those are your words....
OJ, just trying to point out to the "challenged ones" that he is indeed guilty by his own admission.....;)....JK

Haut your in here cheering and routing some sort of success that a Republican (Foley) got busted being gay, nothing illegal or wrong with that. Unless you and Jason have first hand knowledge, your claims of him being a pedifile mean squat. What does "W" got to do with this?....oh ok, Clinton unfortunatley got caught doing what "W" apparantly got away with ( but wait !...W is a dummy...:/) Wow I;m confused.. Can you help me with what your position is?

ps- what ARE the charges xactly?

If we have a truly independent investigation, I can certainly live with the results.
However, to say we have no facts is a bit of a stretch, IMO. We have Reynolds of Buffalo saying he told Hastert...We have Beyner (sp?) also telling Hastert. We have Foley's Chief of Staff also telling of inappropriate emails...
At the very minimum these emails were inappropriate and should at the minimum prompted some sort of inquiry.

If Hastert didn't hear the warnings, or thought they were unwarranted, he is either lying, or clueless. Either way is not good, and he should be gone.

These liberals seem to have a hard time dealing with victory being snatched out of their hands by facts... I wonder how they are going to explain this...

www.rightlinx.com/?p=345

Quote:

Democrat Operatives Conspired with ABC News
As suspected by RightLinx earlier, Democrat operatives working with ABC News were apparently behind the release of damning internet messages between former Congressman Mark Foley and male congressional pages.

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.

The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the investigation.

The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.

The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.
