How many members here waited to join the forum untill they had a problem with there boat? I have noticed a lot of single post members with really serious issue lately.

As a new boater 1 year ago I joined as I had some "newbie" questions (no problems) and since then these forums have been a constant source of information and help. My thanks to all those experienced members for sharing their knowledge with us new boaters.
I joined many moons ago after lurking around a bit. I didn't have a boat at the time but was thinking about getting one. I just read many of the posts, about boats and the towing of. I feel this place was/is a great resource. My post count is low because many of the questions I've had were already asked and answered and the questions I can help with have already been answered.
I had an issue and did a internet search on the problem. One of the answers came from a topic on Iboats. I got to looking around at all the info available and joined.

I had questions about my 200 Evinrude and did a Google search and ended up here. I read every tech forum on the site to glean info about any subject. I love the details provided by many of the contributors, I don't think you could get this kind of an education anywhere else.
I joined after searching about my old '76 OB thinking that it was so old that it would never be able to be rebuilt again because of part available issues. Boy did I learn a lot since that time... And now I enjoy reading, learning and helping others with their issues when I can... It is amazing to me to see so many PRO (this and that) type sites that easily charge you for way less information on other issues these days. SMH... This is an amazing place to learn...with so many helpful and easy to understand folks too...:first:
My wife got tired of me talking about the boat ...I had ordered some parts and found forums continued to read and learn ...I like to help others when I can and get my boat fever out to people who are into the same thing ....I get on daily or so just to check out new posts and follow rebuilds I think it great !!!!
When I was doing some research before buying my previous boat, I came across this site, found it useful and entertaining so I signed up. Have also used it to purchase a few things from time to time.
I too had issues with the Checkmate....Web search brought me here and among others.
iboats is by far the better of the choices !
Great people and all the knowledge abouts boats you could ever need!
Now i am here to stay...as long as they don't ban me for being stupid sometimes......
