You haven't lived until you walk 1/2 mile across a frozen lake in heavy snow gear, dragging all your goods. Then use a manual auger to drill a hole through the ice in order to drop a line. Talk about Miller time!

I'll never forget one time we went when it was -15F (before adding wind chill). Of course, you could drive to the fishing spot with no problem then. But we only had a manual auger at the time and we had to drill holes through 2.5ft of ice. Dampens the enthusiasm a bit.

I pay $162 per month for dry moorage and another $30 per month for the trailer. Pretty steep, but keeps the boat clean and is very handy so I can use the boat all winter to chase salmon up and down the river. I just give them 1 hour notice and they fill it with fuel and launch it for me.

I lived in Minnesota most of my life (and loved it!)....but, at least it doesn't freeze here.
