I had the privledge of spending a day with Kyle Petty back when he drove Pontiacs. Ya the blocks were all the same, but he did say that Pontiac and Buick supplied their own heads. So it was a little more involved than just valve covers back then. There was a rivalry between the GM brands just as much as with Ford.
