well i have yet another problem i was out last weekend running along when the boat slowed down by about 5-7 miles per hour and lost some rpm thinking i may have picked up some grass i stoped but nothing so i jumped back up ok but no w.o.t. about 800rpm shy and a slight vibration so with about 6 miles to go i head on in watching the water preasure hold at about 12-14 at w.o.t.???? about a mile away it shut down buzzers a scream'n with a little worse vibration so when i got it to start i just idled in acouple of days later i took it down to the river and run it it seemed fine for about 20 mins or so but then the same thing but now with a lot more vibration and it boggs real bad when i try to jump on plane and will not top out. i checked it out when i got home and comp. was ok, all the carbs. were just cleaned, the oil in the foot was a little grey so i drained it and had a little shavings on the plug but not alot my prop is not bent nor the shaft but could the foot cause my motor to act this way oh its a 92 pro-v 150 any suggestions would b great this thing has been a nightmare from day one sorry for the long post

Re: curse of the yammy

could be am oil alarm, what did the digital tach indicate when the alarm came on?
when was the last time the remote oil filter was serviced?
sounds more like the curse of lack of maint than a yamaha one.
12-14 PSI of water pressure wont tell you if a T-stst is stuck or clogged only indicates the water pump is working.
there are no fuel alarms on that engine.
however if you ran it lean due to a clogged carb jet the heat of the detonating piston that is dragging can trigger an overheat alarm even if the cooling system is working.
test the compression before anything else.

Re: curse of the yammy

i tested the comp. although low im my opinion all are still 98-100 the same as when i bought the boat i know it was neglected knowing the preveous owner personally who got the boat and engine brand new. but with only 338 hours i thought how bad could it be and its a deal!!! I now know if its to good to be true it prob. is any way my wife was actually driving and turned the key off real fast when the buzzer started but the engine had already shut off before she turned the key so i didnt ge to see the tac. there is two in line filters that i had replaced the week before and had the carbs. done at the same time but i dont know about the oil or t-stat but it always pee's
