I am about to buy a 91' sunsetter with a tower and racks. This is my first boat but I have modified over 20 cars. I don't know where to begin to figure out what can be done to it. I would like to fully update the dash with new style gauges and would like to add some sort of phat sacs(hidden hopefully) and some other trick things. BTW, HELLO ALL!!!

Boats are quite similar to cars, and you can pretty much do the same things.

What are you exactly wanting to do besides gauges and more ballast? Audio system, performance engine add-ons?

I use to do the whole tuner car scene myself, but after dumping $20K plus into an economy car for a boosted motor swap, amongst other things I realized it was foolish and I parted it out and sold the shell to a recycling facility. Only made about 1/2 my money back, would never do it again.

Sunsetter is a nice boat, I'd just use it and enjoy it. Hiding the fat sacks isn't really going to happen in a SunSetter. The most "hidden" fat sacks that you can get for that type of boat is one that replaces the back seat.

For now just that. (Ballast and gauges) But I catch the mod bug real bad so I am sure it will be a lot more.

Where do I get the ballast that replaces the back seat???

There has to be some sort of modifications website that allows you to put in the year, make, and model of your boat and lists out all of the stuff available for it!!!!

Overtons is one place, iBoats may even sell them.

It's not a honda, you're not going to find a site like that. Some folks make mods to make the boat better fit their needs, but you don't see folks doing much more than adding generic accessories (towers, speakers, racks for smaller boats) Some kids put stickers all over them ;)

For now my immediate needs are a thru-hull depth gauge, a tower mounted mirror, and new straps for the wakeboard racks. If anyone knows where I can get these a a good deal or which companies to afford I would appreciate it.

iboats should sell the depth guage. Is yours broken or never had one? I don't think I've ever seen a Malibu that didn't come from the factory with one.

For the mirror, there are a couple options here:

Straps you might need to go straight to whoever made your racks, since there are many different types of straps.
