I'm wiring up a custom ignition panel and separate gauge panel from two AD31 stock panels.

I need to extend the wiring for the gauges, since the ignition is located a couple of feet from the gauges. I would like to keep the wiring color coded the same as stock, since it would be easier to trace. I have looked for 18 awg wire that has the same colors, but I'm having difficulty finding the following color combinations:

  • Grey with black stripe
  • Blue with red stripe

Would someone please tell me where I might find these color combinations or provide me a possible solution?

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't appear that what you what is all that easy to obtain by mere mortals. I did find a place that can make anything you want (NOTE: this was by Internet search, NOT personal experience with the company):
asapWire

Note that they appear to sell it in 500' spools; maybe they can do a smaller batch. I would recommend 16 gauge, not 18, just for strength and durability.

Maybe you could take a trip to a salvage yard and get a harness with those colors included for a few bucks instead.

About how much do you need?

I agree that 16 would be nicer; however, the existing wire is 18 and I'd be splicing into it. I guess stepping up wouldn't be an issue.

I'm only needing about 3 feet of each (maximum). I may have to resort to using a different color. For the grey/black, I suppose I could use a permanent marker for the black stripe on grey wire. Maybe something similar for the blue/red, too.

You could use electrical tape of the proper stripe color and do a wrap every 6" or so.
