OK, going back to last fall, as a total rookie i went at my floor with a circular saw. I cut a small hole in the hull and iBoats folks guided me through epoxy resin/fiberglass process to fix it. Done, solid as a rock now.

NOW, as I'm putting everything back together, I remembered my wandering circular saw also grazed a cable that I now have identified as the steering cable. The outdrive seems to move fine, so i assume I just need to "seal it back up" where i grazed the rubber outer caseing. Do I use electrical tape? Other tape? Something else? Thanks.

P.S. My circular saw now has a restraining order on it requiring it to remain at least 50' from the boat at all times!!!!! ....but I still have the sawsall......

You can get a cold fusion tape at Menards and the like. It is used in the underground electrical, natural gas line business for waterproofing and is very resistant to the environment. When a natural gas line comes out of the ground, it is wrapped with that stuff. If you are just wanting to seal the cable, IMO this should do it.
