A cutless bearing is a brass tube with teflon coating on the inside.The shaft rides in that.They are lube by water.Things that kill the cutless bearing,sand or mud in the water and vibration.<br />The shaft will have to be removed,there are one or two set screws that screw from the outside of the strut.Chances are,paint has them fill in.A little sanding about the center and you should find it.Most of the bearing are distroyed when pulled.Yoy must mic the inside of the strut and the shaft too the order the right one for your boat.
