Cutting into Head Pan

Yesterday I traced wires for the shower pump that do not work.

They are tied into something under the head pan and I can not pull them out.

I need to get into the molded head pan to remove the power wire to the shower pump.

Has anyone ever cut into one of these molded in units and if so, do you have any advice?

Second question, has anyone ever taken one of these boats apart and can tell me what the hull structure is like under the pan?

Thanks

Mark

Re: Cutting into Head Pan

i did a 30 foot regal........the owners manual was really helpful.

so were the people at regal....

however.....just about every system was acessable any thing that could ever need to be changed, had a way to get to it...(except for the actual shower drain)

in the regal.....the power wire just went to a bilge pump in a moulded plastic case. the case opened via screws.

Re: Cutting into Head Pan

Thanks for the reply.

I would think that the Century wiring should be accessible as well. Everything else seems to be on this boat, in some manner or other.

Unfortunately the boat is used and I don't have a manual. And Century isn't around any more.

The power wire is loose enough as it drops down behind the head pan wall because I can hear it when I pull on it from above.

However, it appears to be "tied" into the pan near the bilge pump, at the bottom of the pan. It will not budge when pulled or pushed so I am sure it is held in place where it is connected to the pump.

My issue is how I access that connection - that I fear has a blown fuse or a broken/corroded wire attached to it.

The head pan is actually raised off the bottom of the boat and you step up from the main companionway into the head. But I am afraid if I rip up the new carpet and cut a hole in the plywood from the companionway side, I am just going to run into a stringer and be no further ahead.

Thanks

Mark
