For those that haven't tried it on iboats - I got enlightened. I was going to get a new cover and had it in my cart. Apparently, someone can type faster and when they hit purchase it took the item from my cart and put it in theirs.

If that happened in a real store there would have been police on the scene.

Bad policy Iboats and you need to change it. I realize it is a policy issue or something in your Point Of Sale system. However, it does leave one feeling ripped off.

Well, live and learn. There are only so many of any given product available. Putting it in your "cart" is like writing it on your shopping list. An online cart does not reserve the product. If you want it, and there are just a few left, buy it before someone else does. This is how all online shopping carts work, not just iboats.

I was trying - I guess I need to learn to type faster. I thought it was similar to hotell reservations. If I hadn't of bought a second item, I would still be thinking I bought the first. It doesn't do anything to let you know you didn't get it.

Not sure why typing speed is an issue unless you were still "shopping". Then I'd agree with Mark.

If you were at the checkout typing in all that info and it disappeared, then I'd be pi**ed, too.

Re: Cyber Monday

I was in Checkout and when I hit purchase it went back to the home screen instead of an invoice. I even did it again thinking I had done something wrong. The girl in customer service explained that until you actually hit the purchase button it isn't guaranteed and if someone hits it first - you lost.

I went back in and bought a second one for a 25' boat and intend to sew them together. I also intend to use the leftover fabric to sew new covers for my biminis.

I'm not really ticked off anymore - just dismayed.

I'd call them and tell them what happened. I've dealt with the iboats store a lot and they really do care about the customer. Give them a call, they should make it right.

If I hadn't of bought a second item.....

So you shopped for another item after putting the first one in your cart? I can see how the first one got sold out from under you. You and the other person had it in the cart at the same time and they checked out before you. I doubt you are the only person who ran into this situation, just the nature of the beast with this type of sale.

I didn't look at the sale this year (all ready have 2 covers from last year :D), but thought there was a disclaimer stating that all items are still for sale until they are paid for? IE: placing it in your shopping cart does not "reserve" the item for you. Last year,,, I remember quickly buying the first cover I needed, then going back to get the other cover I didn't really need.

Isn't the holiday season wonderful

I went to the WalMart Black Friday sale (first time) with my wife this year, her sister couldn't go.... Friggin mayhem, kayos, cut-throat shopping. The "specials" were not supposed to be touched until 12 midnight, but at 11:30 all *ell broke loose. We were done shopping at 11:45pm, but didn't get checked out until 1:15am.....

No, I bought the first item and then went back in to buy a second.

I did call them because I was confused. They were very helpful and had there been another one or one of similar size I think they would have tried to get it to me. It was just an example of my own ignorance about shopping.

No - that was what had me confused. I put it in my cart and was filling in the info. When I clicked the purchase button, it took me back to the home screen. I then thought something had gone wrong and purchased the item a second time. Same result. I thought I had purchased the item (possibly twice) until I purchased a second (different) one and it took me to an invoice page. Then I called customer service and got the whole thing explained to me.

Not only did I call them. BUT - a little later they also called me to find out what had happened. Customer service is undoubtedly one of their strengths.
