just keeping ya posted lower unit is off had a small problem figureing out how to get the shift rod loose relized there was a bolt at the top of it under the motor. i got that loose and down she came pretty easy.today gonna attempt to take the power head off got most of the bolts out. but thinking there may be more to it cause it aint moving.looks as if i need to take out the steering mount bolts also.:)

well im still attempting to remove the powerhead.do i need to remove the motor from the mounts. the steering mount seems to be holding it. they may be bolts under there? got the 6 large ones left and right side out. 2 in the back. looks like 2 in the front below the steering mount.will the casing come off with the powerhead.dont seem to be able to remove it anyother way. its in my way? the carbs and all are all still on there was trying to take it off as a whole motor or is this the wrong proceedure?

well after all the teardown and inspection of this motor. cost would be around 1500 dollars for boring and all. i parted the the thing out. everything has to die sooner or later. that dog sure could hunt thow.. getting a new motor. thanks all for the advice as i went threw alot of hell trying to get parts and all. with your help saved me time and money..so newer motor it is. gonna stay around 120 to 140 hp . the search is on now to find one. ty all
