Cylinder head bolts

I have just had my powerhead reconditioned and I am reassembling the head. The Clymer manual says to put Loctite 271 on the head bolts but I think the general view is a light coat of marine grease is better. Is this correct?

Also after 10 hours I need to retorque the head bolts. I assume I just back the bolts out in sequence about a turn and then readjust. Is this the right approach? I guess if loctite is used you have to take the bolts right out and re apply the loctite.

Thanks rodbolt,

It is a 1990 50Hp Yamaha 50DETO. I guess the same question applies to the powerhead mounting bolts.

Also do you use any gasket sealer?

Re: Cylinder head bolts

use teflon pipe sealant or perfect seal or even a water proof grease.
but I really dont think I would use 271.
