Hey all, thanx for all the help you've given so far, I hate to be a pain and post too much, so please bear with me.
I gotta get better heads for my 1990 200hp evinrude looper. mechanic said they're too corroded from salwater usage. anyways, i've got a 1999 powerhead lying around, also evinrude and 200hp. just wondering if they're compatible.

Re: cylinder head swap

Dont worry about posting too much. I've made a couple of posts and they havent kicked me out. Yet.

Yes, those heads will fit but it'd be better if you could find some 1988-92 heads. We've ran the 92 style head on the 93 style motor and picked up some performance -- slightly. That may mean if you run the newer head on the older motor it may lose some. Dont know, never tried it. Since you have them, give it a try.

Re: cylinder head swap

thanks dhadley, will give it a try then. i'm assuming from your performance test that maybe the 88-92 heads somehow increased compression a bit, so i might get a few pounds less of compression. as long as it works, i don't care though.
